The James Joo-Jin Kim Center for Korean Studies at the University of Pennsylvania is pleased to announce the 1st Global Korea Agenda Roundtable to be held on November 7th, 2025.

Across three sessions, the roundtable will explore the evolving landscape of Dating and Intimacy in South Korea. Six scholars from various disciplines will share their research on how young adults’ views and practices of dating and intimacy are shaped by gender, sexuality, class, multicultural status, and demographic policies, resulting in diverse and often conflicting stories. Two discussants will provide feedback on each paper. The roundtable will conclude with a collective discussion by all participants on the current and evolving landscape of dating and intimacy and its implications for gender dynamics in contemporary Korea.

This roundtable is open to the public. Please RSVP by October 17th to attend. Lunch and coffee will be provided for all participants.

This roundtable is supported by the Core University Program for Korean Studies of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Korea and Korean Studies Promotion Service at the Academy of Korean Studies (AKS-2023-OLU-2250002) as well as by the James Joo-Jin Kim Center for Korean Studies at the University of Pennsylvania.
