Room 150 McNeil Building & McNeil Building Atrium

The First Korean Congress was convened by Philip Jaisohn in Philadelphia from April 14 to 16, 1919 in the Little Theater at 17th and Delancey Streets. This was a reaction to the March 1st Movement, one of the earliest public displays of Korea's peaceful demonstration during Japanese occupation from 1910 to 1945.

Join us for a three-part lecture series at the University of Pennsylvania to learn more about the history of the March 1st Indepence Movement, Contemporary Korea, and a special disucssion about the Korean American experience at the University of Pennsylvania. The lecture will be followed by a commemorative march from Plays & Players Theatre to Independence Hall beginning at 2:00 PM. A closing ceremony will be held at the Faith and Liberty Discovery Center at 3:00 PM. Transportation back to UPenn via Uber/Lyft will be reimbursed; please contact jung.lee@jaisohn.org for reimbursement details.
