The Kim Center extends its heartfelt gratitude to Prof. Josephine Nock-Hee Park, School of Arts and Sciences President’s Distinguished Professor of English, for her five and a half years of dedicated service as an Executive Committee Member. Her commitment and contributions have been invaluable to the growth and success of the Center. We are delighted to share that Prof. Park has recently been named Associate Dean for Arts and Letters in the School of Arts and Sciences, effective January 1, 2025. Congratulations on this well-deserved recognition, and we wish her continued success in her new role!
We are delighted to announce Dr. Soosun You as the newest member of the Kim Center Executive Committee. Dr. You is a Senior Fellow at the University of Pennsylvania, where she will join as an Assistant Professor beginning in July, 2025. She specializes in Comparative Politics and Political Behavior, with regional expertise in South Korea. Her work focuses on addressing various challenges to achieving gender equality. She is currently working on a book project that examines how changes in demographic and marital market dynamics have shaped the trajectory of women’s rights in South Korea. Drawing on qualitative and quantitative methods, the book investigates the emergence of various anti-natalist and pro-natalist government policies, and how they have evolved, as South Korea transitioned from an autocracy to a democracy in the last few decades.
Please join us in welcoming Dr. You!
