The James Joo-Jin Kim Center for Korean Studies seeks applications for Undergraduate Fellows, aimed at students who are involved in the study of Korea and interested in active participation in the university’s Korean Studies program. The Kim Center will recruit up to five (5) Undergraduate Students for the 2025–2026 academic year. Students will be selected based on academic merit and demonstrated interest in Korean Studies.

Undergraduate benefits include:

• Total Compensation package of $2,000 (including required benefit charges)

• Invitations to meetings with guest speakers for the Korean Studies Colloquium

• Research feedback and opportunity to be mentored by Kim Center-affiliated faculty on Korean Studies-related research projects

• If selected, travel support will be provided to present at the three-university conference in Los Angeles with USC's Korean Studies Institute and Michigan’s Nam Center.

 

Undergraduates are expected to:

• Complete (for credit) at least one non-language Korean Studies course per semester, subject to approval by the Kim Center

• Attend weekly Korean Studies Colloquium (Thursday, 12:00-1:00pm)

• Present research outcomes at the Kim Center symposium/conference

• Organize one cultural event as a team

• Attend monthly meetings with the director

 If the recipient fails to complete the requirements, the Kim Center reserves the right to annul the benefits, including compensation.
