The James Joo-Jin Kim Center for Korean Studies is pleased to announce the Graduate Fellow Award, aimed at students who are involved in the study of Korea and interested in active participation in the university’s Korean studies program. Fellows will be selected on the basis of academic merits and demonstrated interest in Korean studies. Applicants for this one-year award should be full-time graduate students including MA and Ph.D students.
Graduate Fellow benefits include:
• Scholarship of $3,000 (disbursed in April 2025) upon fulfilling all requirements as outlined below
• Mentorship opportunity by Kim Center-affiliated faculty
• Invitations to meetings with guest speakers for the Korean Studies Colloquium
Graduate Fellows are expected to:
• Reside in the Philadelphia area;
• Complete the research proposal as planned;
• Make a public presentation of the proposed research’s findings;
• Attend Korean Studies Colloquium Series and Conferences;
• Organize the annual Graduate Student Conference together with other Fellows.; and
• Attend monthly meetings with the director.
If the fellow fails to complete the requirements of the award, the Kim Center maintains the right to annul the award.
