The James Joo-Jin Kim Center for Korean Studies seeks applications for Graduate Fellows, aimed at students who are involved in the study of Korea and interested in active participation in the university’s Korean studies program across disciplines. Students will be selected based on academic merit and demonstrated interest in Korean studies. Applicants should be full-time graduate students, including MA and Ph.D students.

 

Graduate benefits include:

• Total Compensation package of $3,000 (including required benefit charges)

• Mentorship opportunity by Kim Center-affiliated faculty

• Invitations to meetings with guest speakers for the Korean Studies Colloquium

• If selected for presentation, travel support will be provided to Seoul, Korea, to present at the joint conference with the College of Humanities at Seoul National University.

 

Graduates are expected to:

• Reside in the Philadelphia area

• Complete the research proposal as planned

• Make a public presentation of the proposed research’s findings

• Attend weekly Korean Studies Colloquium (Thursday, 12:00-1:00 pm) and Conferences hosted by the Center

• Organize the annual Graduate Student Conference together with other Fellows

• Attend monthly meetings with the director.

If the recipient fails to complete the requirements, the Kim Center reserves the right to annul the benefits, including compensation.
