2025-26 Undergraduate Fellow
Jiwoo Lee is a second-year in the College of Arts and Sciences majoring in Neuroscience with minors in Healthcare Management and East Asian Languages and Civilizations with a concentration in Korean Studies. On the pre-med track, she is deeply interested in the intersection of healthcare, cultural identity, and accessibility for immigrant populations, particularly within the Korean American community.
Jiwoo works at a clinical lab at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, where she studies the behavioral and psychosocial aspects of cancer treatment in adolescents and young adults with an emphasis on improving self-management interventions, and a wet lab in the Department of Neuroscience and the Chronobiology Program at UPenn, where she investigates the neural circuits and molecular mechanisms controlling sleep and their links to emotional regulation in health and disease.
Combining her passions for medicine, neuroscience, and Korean studies, she hopes to study healthcare systems in Korea while furthering her understanding of immigrant health experiences. In the future, she aspires to become a pediatrician who provides accessible and culturally competent care to immigrant populations, such as Korean Americans, bridging both medical and cultural gaps in the healthcare system.
