Penn Forum in Korean Studies

We are pleased to announce that the James Joo-Jin Kim Program in Korean Studies is launching Penn Forum in Korean Studies, a monthly talk series open to the Penn community. The forum will provide a platform for graduate students and junior scholars to deliver a presentation on their research interest and discuss it with their peers. The forum is open to any graduate students and junior scholars with research interest in Korea from all departments to present. Now Accepting 2018–19 Moon Family Postdoc Fellowship Applications

The James Joo-Jin Kim Program at the University of Pennsylvania is now accepting applications for the Moon Family Postdoctoral Fellowship in Korean Studies for the 2018–19 academic year. The postdoctoral program is open to scholars who work in the humanities (including cinema studies, history, and literature), with research focused on modern Korea (since 1864).

Eugene Y. Park wins F. Hilary Conroy Award by the Association for Asian Studies

Association for Asian Studies (AAS) selected Eugene Y. Park to receive this year’s F. Hilary Conroy Award for organizing his panel “Disability in Early Modern East Asia: Case Studies from China, Japan, and Korea, ca 1500-1870.” The Conroy Award was recently initiated to honor Prof. F. Hilary Conroy, outstanding scholar of Japan, Northeast Asia and Asian American history at the University of Pennsylvania from 1951 to 1990.
