• Eugene Y. Park wins F. Hilary Conroy Award by the Association for Asian Studies

    Association for Asian Studies (AAS) selected Eugene Y. Park to receive this year’s F. Hilary Conroy Award for organizing his panel “Disability in Early Modern East Asia: Case Studies from China, Japan, and Korea, ca 1500-1870.” The Conroy Award was recently initiated to honor Prof. F. Hilary Conroy, outstanding scholar of Japan, Northeast Asia and Asian American history at the University of Pennsylvania from 1951 to 1990.

  • Nuri Kim Named 2017–18 Moon Family Postdoctoral Fellow

    The James Joo-Jin Kim Program in Korean Studies at the University of Pennsylvania is pleased to announce Nuri Kim as the 2017–18 Moon Family Postdoctoral Fellowship in Korean Studies. Mr. Kim was selected out of a highly competitive pool of applicants, and will join us in residence at the University of Pennsylvania for the 2017–18 academic year.

  • Stephanie Felt (C '17) Wins Competitive Fulbright ETA to South Korea

    We are pleased to announce that Stephanie Felt, a senior in the College of Arts and Sciences majoring in English, has won a prestigious Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship (ETA) to South Korea. She will be spending the next year in South Korea, teaching English at either a primary or secondary school.   • Earn $2,000 as an Undergraduate Fellow!

    Undergraduate students interested in Korean Studies are encouraged to apply for the 2017–2018 Korean Studies Undergraduate Fellowship. The Kim Program in Korean Studies will recruit up to five (5) Undergraduate Fellows, who will be selected on the basis of academic merits and demonstrated interest in Korean Studies.

  • John Grisafi Named 2017 Dean's Scholar

    John Grisafi, Kim Program Undergraduate Fellow for 2016– 2017, has been named one of the 10 Undergraduate Dean's Scholars for 2017.  Students are nominated by faculty from among those with a grade point average of 3.7 or higher.
